Hunting
Sardaville is the home of the rare Black Wildebeest along with Blesbuck, Zebra, Eland and Springbok. Another rarity found on the farm is the White Blesbuck that over the years seemed to flourish in the region. Hunter’s from beginners to experts can hone their skills by either hunting on foot, from strategically placed hunting hides. Bow-and-arrow hunting is also allowed on the estate.

Hunting Rules
Safety comes first, because no hunted game can ever compensate for a friend who is injured, maimed, or killed. Therefore, there are a few rules that everyone must comply with:
• All firearms must be zeroed at the shooting range before hunting takes place. Every hunter must be able to hit a 20 cm steel plate at 100 m.
• All firearms must be unloaded when you are near a vehicle or among people. Please open the bolt; this ensures that everyone can see your firearm is safe.
• No hunting will take place under the influence of alcohol.
• No hunting will take place after hours or at night without Sardaville staff present.
• No hunting on Sundays.
• Hunters will be transported to the hunting area from where the hunt will take place, either from hides or on foot. No private vehicles are allowed in the hunting area during a hunt.
• Hunting/shooting from a vehicle is not preferred. A hunter may dismount, walk/stalk, and shoot at least 100 m away from the vehicle. (This is to ensure that the animals remain calm when vehicles begin to move.)
• No hunting near boundary fences or boundary roads. Hunters will be held responsible if animals are cornered and break through the fences.
• Rifles must be fitted with a scope; no open sights. Only calibers of .243 or larger are permitted.
• Each shot fired will be charged as follows:
Animal killed: Full price
Animal wounded: Full price
Missed shots: R500 per missed shot
If the hunter does not cooperate with the above rules, the hunt will be cancelled without any refunds.
INDEMNITY
Your stay and hunt at Sardaville is at your own risk. Sardaville, its owner, and/or any of its employees will accept no responsibility for any damage or injuries of any nature whatsoever that any person may suffer while staying on the Sardaville farm, hunting, driving, or participating in any other activities.

Hunters’ Code
A declaration of responsibility founded on respect for life and for nature.
As hunters we declare:
That all animals are sentient beings, and that therefore, in the highest form of humanity in taking a life, and out of respect for the game we hunt, we will at all times strive for a one-shot kill, while ensuring the responsible utilization of hunted game.
As hunters we further declare that:
• we have respect for life;
• we hunt with self-control;
• we track and recover wounded game.
After game has been positively identified as legally huntable, a hunter takes a shot only if they are sure that:
• it is safe to do so;
• the firearm and the hunter will ensure a one-shot kill; and
• the hunted game can be tracked and recovered.
Safety above all
• No hunted game can ever compensate for a friend who is injured, maimed, or killed.
• We do not shoot at game that we cannot clearly see and positively identify.
• We use no alcohol before or during a hunt.
• We regard it as our duty to immediately and in a friendly, positive manner correct any violation of firearm safety by any person in our hunting party.
Respect for landowners’ rights
• We respect the land and property of the landowner where we hunt.
• We make sure which species and sexes may and/or may not be hunted before the hunt begins.
• We close gates and prevent veld fires.
• We condemn the bribing of guides in cases of missed shots or where hunted game cannot be tracked.
• Because of hunters’ respect for nature, we condemn any form of littering—we always remove our own litter as well as that of others.
Because hunting cannot be separated from nature, all true hunters are also true custodians.
As hunters, we cherish the spirit of goodwill that exists among all hunters and therefore accept, like millions of fellow hunters around the world, all the responsibilities implied by hunting.
